RETA seeks federal path for 200 mile NM transmission line
The RETA along with Power Network NM and PNM filed with the Energy Regulatory Commission to route a 1500 MW renewable line from southeast New Mexico to the Four Corners, serving western markets including California. Routing is preliminary, with operation aimed by 2015 and eminent domain possible for right of way. The project ties to Goldman Sachs financing and will leverage existing infrastructure. NIEHS reviews show weak links between EMF exposure and cancer, urging continued education while noting potential effects on defibrillators and pacemakers.
