Paper Art Moves From Dryer Lint To Gallery Display
Chuck Lathrop, now in Rio Rancho with wife Hazel and cat Shorty, opened Leich Lathrop Gallery in Albuquerque's Old Town to showcase abstract works and other artists using unconventional paper materials. The 61-year-old artist creates paintings and sculptures from everyday substances including dryer lint, coffee, soy sauce, and oak leaf acids, often applying a spontaneous method and occasionally making his own paper to highlight paper’s versatility.
