Back to School Food Drive at Rio Rancho libraries

Rio Rancho's public libraries and Friends of the Library run a Back to School Food Drive for Storehouse West. From Aug 5 to 10 donation bins are in Loma Colorado Main and Esther Bone Memorial libraries during normal hours. Donate two or more items for a coupon toward a free paperback at the Friends used book sale Aug 9 10am-5pm and Aug 10 10am-1pm.

Obregon Road widening and lights near Enchanted Hills

Road work on Obregon Road between Saratoga Drive and Sonora Road runs today through late August. Crews widen two sections to add left and right turn lanes into Enchanted Hills Elementary School and install three street lights by the school. Reduced lane widths and brief restrictions will apply.

Rio Rancho duo touts air powered bike motor dubbed 2ndwind

Rio Rancho based uAira founders Cahana and Skinnick unveil a two pound pneumatic motor that attaches to any bicycle to boost pedal power. The compact aluminum unit uses a carbon fiber air tank and water bottle holder space, costs about 600 to prototype and aims for a $200 retail price with a $60,000 Venture Acceleration Fund seed grant backing production.

Rio Rancho cattle owner pleads not guilty to trespass charges

Bill King, son of late Gov. Bruce King, was arraigned in Sandoval County for two misdemeanors over roaming cattle in Rio Rancho’s Northern Meadows. He denies intent to violate laws, citing New Mexico fence out rules and alleged fence cutting by residents. A trial date has not been set.
