Summer Music Series at Haynes Park in Rio Rancho

The City of Rio Rancho invites residents to free Sunday concerts at Haynes Park Rotary Club Barbecue Pavilion through August from 6:30 to 8. Acts include Roger Jameson & Jaded Heart Band, Little Hawk, The Hit Squad, Recurve, Darryl Dominguez Band, Rudy Boy Experiment, High Desert Big Band, and Rio Rancho Symphonic Band. Events may be weather canceled.

Jemez Quilts Show At Walatowa Center Jemez Pueblo

The Jemez Mountains Bear Paw Quilting Guild hosts an annual quilt show July 24 to 26 at Walatowa Visitor Center in Jemez Pueblo 7413 NM 4. A display includes patriotic quilts for families of New Mexico fallen soldiers, with quilts and handmade items for sale cash only. Show hours 10 to 6 on the 24th and 25th and 10 to 3 on the 26th. Free admission.

Peter Chase leads summer reading finale concert at Esther Bone Library

Popular musician and music historian Peter Chase returns for the Adult Summer Reading Finale on Tuesday July 14 at 6 30 p m at Esther Bone Memorial Library. His bandmates Jeanne Dixon Bill Gietbitz Jim Ruff and Dave Thomas perform with fiddle mandolin guitar and bass. Reservations are not required. For details call 5012 ext 3128.

Stand-up Night at Santa Ana Star with Three Comedians

Santa Ana Star Casino presents John Hilder Tim Messenger and Matt Peterson performing solo sets at The Stage. Hilder, raised Mormon in Salt Lake City, moved to Las Vegas in 2004 to headline venues. Messenger left a tax accounting career for stand-up after stages in Boston and D C. Peterson began a comedy path after an open mic in the Southwest. Doors open 6 30 pm for Stand-up Comedy Thursdays with showtime at 7 30 pm.

Outdoor Movie Nights at Cabezon Park This Summer

Cabezon Park residents invite families and neighbors to free outdoor screenings on Fridays July 17 24 and 31 at 2307 Cabezon Blvd. Movies start at dusk on a large inflatable screen. Roots of comedy exposed Rakugo talk by MNM Professor Lone Bray

Professor Lone Bray will discuss and demonstrate Rakugo the ancient Japanese storytelling tradition at Esther Bone Memorial Library on Tuesday July 21 at 6 30 p m. The讲 storyteller dresses ceremonially bows to the audience and sits on a cushion before beginning. Bray recently returned from studies in Japan and teaches Japanese language and society courses.

Christmas in July at St Francis Craft Fair

St Francis Episcopal Church will host its second annual Fun Day and Christmas in July Craft Fair on Saturday July 25 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. The event features more than 30 vendors inside and a jumping castle outside along with free crafts for children and Rio Rancho firefighters. The church is located at the corner of Cabezon and Golf Course Road.

Placitas Exhibit Showcases Community Center Painting Class

Placitas hosting an exhibit of paintings by the Placitas Community Center Painting Class in the Collin Room Gallery. Opens August 1 and runs through August 27 with a reception for the artists on Sunday, August 16 from 2 to 4 p.m. Elaine Slusher leads the class. she is a retired professional artist with numerous Placitas Artist Series shows.
