First State Bank to open Rio Rancho branch at Southern and 20th
Ground breaking for a new bank branch in Rio Rancho took place Tuesday with Mayor David Bruening and Sterling Emens Jr. Present were Virginio Sandoval of Cuba and Katsch Construction Co. to build a temporary site. Rose Becker from Rio Rancho selected as manager. Effective March first the bank will be renamed United Bank of Rio Rancho.

Rio Rancho Planning and Zoning OK’d the Panorama Heights North final plat by AMREP Southwest on 408 acres north of the Rio Rancho Country Club. Couple to Face Federal Food Stamp Charges in Bernalillo
Rio Rancho couple Ray and Gwynne Bennett waived a preliminary hearing in Bernalillo magistrate court on felony charges of unlawfully dealing in federal food stamps over 2500 dollars. Bennett posted bond and was released. Mrs Bennett remained in custody. Prosecutors say restitution was made and additional counts of issuing worthless checks may be dismissed or settled. The Bennetts were arrested January 5, with the health and social services department filing the food stamps complaint afterward.
