Corrales Mayoral Hopefuls Debut In March Election

Rape Prevention Workshops To Begin In Rio Rancho
Introductory rape prevention workshops are planned for January 6 and 19 at the Rio Rancho Jewish Center 2009 Grande Blvd across from Haynes Center. Irene Chaires and Barry McCracken of the Rio Rancho Police will lead with Amy Abbott demonstrating self defense at Rio Rancho City Hall January 17. The sessions welcome all citizens including the handicapped and will work with the Albuquerque Rape Crisis Center until a local facility opens.

Two Die In Fire At Corrales Farm
An early morning fire in Corrales killed two men found sleeping in a woodshed destroyed by the blaze. Cipriano Hernandez 20 of Zacatecas Mexico and Arturo Martinez 23 of Mexico City were identified by Corrales police. They had resided in the shed belonging to Sean Apodaca, whose home sat about 40 feet away. Fire investigators say the wood stove behind the shed likely started the fire. Corrales fire equipment and seventeen volunteers helped prevent spread to the house and garage.
