Paradise Hills Protective Covenants and Architectural Control Board History
The Paradise Hills Covenants go back to 1962 when Paradise International Corp now Horizon Corp bought land and filed covenants. A Civic Association revived enforcement in 1980 under Mary Guffey with a seven-member board and its own attorney. The Architectural Control Board oversees construction, design standards, and fence heights to protect property values, with the Special Zoning Board directing construction approvals and requiring a prior stamp from the Architectural Control Board. Copies of covenants are available by written request. The board meets the second Tuesday monthly at Paradise Hills Country Club.

Sun and Snow Shapes of Our New Adobe Home
The writer explains how sun angles at Patagonia and Santa Fe influence the design and heating of a new adobe home. South windows, a two foot overhang, and strategic planting optimize light and warmth via electric heating and a swamp cooler, with winter sun guiding interior brightness and a wood stove for cloudy days. The piece includes reflections on Christmas snow and ongoing nature observations, plus a light note on New Year greetings and holiday routines.
