Rio Rancho District Assessment Faces Challenge at Council Meeting

A continued report shows residents objecting to a modified assessment formula for the industrial park. District engineer Kent Whitman notes the change aimed to reduce disparities, while council member debates cite that benefits are uneven. The council approves the original-formula plan and bonds are discussed as gas tax pledges. Construction is poised to begin within two weeks, with first payments due September 1. A Bernalillo district court suit filed February 15 involves the Sandoval County sheriffs department.
