Corrales Fire Department elects new chiefs in vote
The Corrales Fire Department election held February 1 chose Gayle Gentry as village chief while Eric Levinson became chief of the Valley Fire Department. Both elections await Corrales Council approval on February 8. Gayle Gentry has served as assistant chief for two years and contributed to updating standard operating procedures. Police Seek Clues in Melrose Rape Case
Curry County law enforcement renews pursuit of a rapist who attacked and stabbed a five year old girl during a January 19 basketball tournament night. The victim described the suspect as a teenage to young adult black male, 5-7, about 130 pounds with a moustache, wearing a blue jacket and red cap. The child was found in the gym parking lot after disappearing from the Melrose tournament crowd and was hospitalized following a sternum-slashing knife wound.
