IRS allows tip allocations reductions for high volume firms
Be sure to report your tip income. Food or beverage establishments with more than 10 employees are required to make tip allocations if the total tips reported by its employees are less than 8% of the business's gross receipts. The 1984 Tax Reform Act opened the door for reductions to as low as 2% if proof shows unusually low tipping.
