Albuquerque band Unwound will entertain at the Cheenah Lounge in Santa Ana Star Casino on Friday August 31 from 9 p.m. to 1 a.m. The event carries no cover charge and features a mix of variety and country western music.

Live music on the Phil Mead Stage 1130 a.m. to 1 p.m. featuring Greg Mellinger on Saturday and Mother Jones Music on Sunday.
A selection of photographs from the 2011 pictorial book A Year or So in the Life of New Mexico is on display at the Loma Colorado Main Library Auditorium this month. The project, edited by Rick Carver with text by Stacy Pearl and others, features work by 50 plus photographers and supports Esperanza Shelter fundraising.

Batman Live lands 17 to 21 October at Santa Ana Star Center for eight performances. The North American tour follows a successful arena run in the UK Europe and Latin America. Featuring a 42 member cast with Batman Robin Alfred and villains like Joker Catwoman Riddler Harley Quinn Poison Ivy and Penguin the show uses Gotham City Batcave and Arkham Asylum set pieces and 3D city scenery with pyrotechnics and video sequences. The Esther Bone Memorial Library hosts Dyefusion’s indigo fabric artworks in shibori and katazome styles, plus a Matchbox car and toy display from Jim Gallegos's 700000-piece collection. The indigo show runs through Sept. 5 and the toy display through Sept. 28 during library hours.
