Moral compass guides Eagle Scout sculpture at PdS Elementary
Augustin Arredondo III, a Troop 714 member and Rio Rancho High sophomore, installed a three dimensional eagle sculpture in front of Puesta del Sol Elementary on Southern Boulevard. The piece, linked to his Eagle Scout project, will be unveiled Sept 11 and reflects his hope to pursue music and college.

Garcia to Fill Brandt’s Board Term in Rio Rancho
Reinaldo Garcia was selected to complete the remaining months of Craig Brandt’s Rio Rancho Public Schools board term after Brandt resigned to run for the state Senate. Brandt cited nepotism laws blocking his daughter-in-law’s hiring as the reason, with his term expiring in February leaving five months plus two seats to voters. RRHS Receives 55000 From Vans For Fine Arts Grants
Rio Rancho High School received a 55000 check after RRHS teams won first place in Vans Custom Culture and Journeys local flavor contests. Funds were distributed to 91 fine arts courses across RRPS for 2012-13 with totals per department and program toward fine arts education.
