Bernalillo High opens with state of the art facilities

More than 100 parents tribal leaders and officials gathered Friday for the ribbon cutting of Bernalillo High School a $34 million 76 000 square foot two story campus replacing the 1950s era buildings with motion sensors Mondopads electronic notebooks and modern classrooms The event featured New Mexico Secretary of Education Hanna Skandera district and community leaders and student body president Sara Perez celebrated the new era and school spirit.

Dream Come True Butterfly Mural Celebrates Diverse Kids

Students from Mountain View Rio Rancho Lincoln and Eagle Ridge middle schools coordinated with art teachers to create a large butterfly mural for A Park Above. The project drew about 100 students and involved 30 volunteers in a wall installation that Mayor Gregg Hull praised as an honor for the community.

Enrollment Pressures Prompt Boundary Review in Rio Rancho

District numbers show 138 additional students this year bringing total to 17,221 with minimal overall growth. Stapleton Elementary remains largest at 936 amid growth in nearby subdivisions while Vista Grande leads declines at 8 percent. Officials consider redrawing attendance boundaries to rebalance enrollments as Ernest Stapleton continues to expand.
