Rio Rancho flood clean-up spans months after muds flood Vista Hills
Heavy storm last Friday caused extensive property damage in Rio Rancho with over two inches of rain in under an hour. Officials blame blocked arroyos for widespread ruin, with 90 percent blockage in some arroyos. County aid includes dump trucks and loaders as residents report homes inundated and walls compromised. AMREP says four homes damaged and plans house-to-house claims processing while city officials mull cement lining and channel capacity. A special emergency meeting was held to assess damage and seek state funds, with Red Cross aid being discussed for seven families.
