Cibola Little League Wins Division 8 Title in Rio Rancho

Cibola Little League's junior team age 13 won the Division 8 crown, the first Rio Rancho club to do so. They defeated Eastdale 8-5 for the title, then went 2-2 in Deming state play, beating Roswell and Clovis after losses to Carlsbad and Bayar Cobre. Coach John Salazar and manager Scott Grady led players including Aragon, Barela, Frost, and Lovato. The district win was hailed as a tough achievement, with the league also placing high in other District 8 divisions and earning a championship flag.

Amateur radio license classes offered by Sandoval group

The Sandoval County Amateur Radio Emergency Services group will run twelve weekly classes starting September 18 at St Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church 1502 Sara Rd. Topics include Morse code novice technical general advanced and extra class theory and rules with a test session for licenses. Call 896-0280 to register walk-ins welcome.

Summer Safari vendors sought for city celebration

Parks department seeks food and merchandise vendors for the Summer Safari celebration on Saturday August 26.
