Third teen given life after Rio Rancho murder case
Jeremy Rose, 18, the third teen convicted in the February 1994 killings of Edward and Mark Brow, was sentenced to life in prison with no parole for 30 years. He testified against two co-defendants, Michae Brown and Bernadette Seiser, who received life plus 42 years. All three faced first degree murder and related charges, despite being under 18 at the time and charged as serious youthful offenders. Rose apologized to the Brow family during sentencing.

Summer Academy reshapes Rio Rancho summer school
Rio Rancho Public Schools launches Summer Academy offering eight grade level classes from kindergarten to eighth grade. Courses include Dragons and Geography, Oceans and Chocolate, Architecture Comes Alive and a Theatre Conservatory. Programs run Monday to Thursday 8:30 to 11:30 a.m. June through July 14 with low class ratios and two teachers per course.

Senator Rhodes Undergoes Triple Bypass Surgery
Corrales state senator Virgil Rhodes underwent a routine discovered triple bypass last week and is recovering well. His daughter Doris said the operation occurred Tuesday, he was awake and walking within a day, with no heart damage found and arteries in good condition. Rhodes serves representing Corrales Bernalillo and eastern Rio Rancho and held Senate committees during the recent session. He joked about sending the hospital bill to Governor Johnson, who vetoed a record 20 percent of bills.
