APS opts against split sessions for Cibola High

Albuquerque Public Schools spokesperson says split sessions are no longer an option for Cibola High overcrowding due to state-mandated school hours. Options discussed include bussing River's Edge and Rio Rancho freshmen to other APS sites and using Ellison Golf Course satellite classrooms. Districts seek joint meeting with the State Department to decide a plan amid cross-border enrollment of about 200 non APS students.

Two 17 year olds, Michael Brown and Bermadette Seiser, were sentenced by District Court Judge Louis P. McDonald to life in prison plus 42 years for related charges for stabbing deaths of Edward and Mark Brown in February 1994. The judge called the acts cold and calculated and ordered Brown and Seiser to serve 50 years before parole eligibility, with Jeremy Rose set for sentencing next week after pleading guilty to one count of first degree murder in exchange for testimony. Rose, 18, faced a maximum life sentence. Brown and Seiser were found guilty by a Las Cruces jury in January.
