Neighborhood retirement center set to open in 2016

The Neighborhood, a 12 acre Rio Rancho continuing care facility by La Vida Llena, breaks ground last October and aims for an April 2016 opening. Phase one offers 90 independent living apartments with 70 percent reserved, plus plans for 90 more units, 48 private nursing rooms, 24 studios and 24 single rooms, with a two entrance fee options and monthly service fees. The center will provide independent living to memory care and nursing care with no cost changes as residents qualify for different care levels.

Vista Grande classroom wing moves forward in Rio Rancho

Rio Rancho Public Schools approved a 240 750 contract with Vigil & Associates to design a new classroom wing at Vista Grande Elementary. The project aims to raise capacity to district standard, reduce portables, and improve access to technology. Construction expected late summer to finish by late December or early January.

Chris Tomlin to Play in Rio Rancho April 21

Christian musician Chris Tomlin brings the Love Ran Red tour to Santa Ana Star Center in Rio Rancho on April 21 at 7 p.m. with openers Tenth Avenue North and Rend Collective. Tickets run 16 to 32 dollars. Tomlin expects strong turnout and notes the night should feel unique with new and longtime songs.

Sandoval County to declare April County Government Month

Sandoval County commissioners will declare April as National County Government Month at their 6 p.m. meeting in Bernalillo. The day includes an open house 1 5 p.m. tours of the county administration building and a distribution of the 2015 Residents Guide.
