Remembering Adrian Garcia Jr. A CHS student remembered

Adrian Garcia Jr. a 16 year old Cleveland High School sophomore died in a car crash on his way to school. A memorial service was held at CHS. Family and friends recalled his winsome smile humor and practical jokes. He enjoyed selling candy at school and hoped to join the Marines. Memorial attendees were urged to pray for the family and live without fear of judgment.

Potter resigns as Storm head coach after storied tenure

Cleveland High School football coach Kirk Potter, the Class 5A coach of the year after guiding the Storm to a 13 0 state title run, submitted his resignation to Rio Rancho Public Schools. Principal Bruce Carver said Potter retires, leaving the program in capable hands as an in-house search for a successor begins ahead of the 2012 season opener at Wilson Stadium against La Cueva on August 31. Potter quoted that he is ready to retire and proud of the program, while defensive coordinator Bruce Mitchell also announced his resignation shortly after the season.

Crum pushes plan to make Star Center solvent in Rio Rancho

Rio Rancho councilor Tim Crum led a vision meeting at Cabezon Community Center to brainstorm making the Santa Ana Star Center financially solvent. Attendees offered ideas to improve access and perception, boost transit, create a volunteer advisory committee, host holiday tournaments, and even build a nearby hotel.
