Madalena faces license suspension issue amid county ties

Sandoval County Commissioner Darryl Madalena drives on a suspended license since August 2009 after failing to pay a $60 ticket. Cited for the offense on US 550 January 25, he was to appear in court April 2 but was not summoned correctly and awaits reissue. He must pay the reinstatement fee of $25 and the ticket to restore driving privileges. County officials note no authority to discipline elected officials.

CHS student Adrian Garcia Jr. killed in head-on wreck

A Cleveland High School sophomore, Adrian Garcia Jr., 16, was killed early Thursday when his 1992 Toyota Tercel crossed the center line on Paseo del Volcan and collided with a northbound Toyota Tacoma. Beverly Maez and her 6-year-old daughter were injured. the Malibu occupants were uninjured.
