Hurt earns Athlete of the Month for Rams March run
Rio Rancho Rams junior guard Juan Hurt was named Athlete of the Month for March by the Rio Rancho Sports Advisory Council. He totaled 62 points 13 assists 10 rebounds and 6 steals in four state tournament games spanning 122 of 128 available minutes as the 10th-seeded Rams defeated Albuquerque High Cibola Cleveland and Carlsbad to win the 6A title.

CHS Briefs Show Storm Among Top Southwest Teams

Cleveland High won 9-8 at Cibola after leading 4-0, falling behind 5-4, then rallying in the sixth. Nycole Medina started the rally with a double, followed by two-run hits from Lindsey Paboucek and Adrianna Castillo. Lauren Castellano hit a two-run homer for Cibola. Castillo closed out the win as Cleveland improved to 14-3, 3-0 in 1-6A.

In a high scoring District 5 game, Cleveland Storm overcame a 2-2 tie by scoring six runs in the bottom of the fifth to beat Cibola 8-6. Key hits came from Chris Chapman Riley Peterson Giacomo Musante and Nate Gonzales as Cleveland piled up 10 hits led by Gonzales 3-for-3 and Jackson 2-for-4 with two RBIs.
