Columnist To Address NAACP Banquet in Albuquerque
NorthwestMesa NAACP invites the public to its April 1 1981 banquet at the Classic Hotel in Albuquerque. Vernon D Jarret, famed Chicago Tribune columnist and broadcaster, will headline. Jarrett has long career in journalism, teaching, and civic work, with multiple awards and leadership roles in black media and education. Tickets are $17.50, donations invited.

The West Mesa Civitan Club awarded a $100 scholarship to Lorraine Baca a University of Albuquerque junior with a 3.5 GPA or higher. Presented by Civitan official Philip Wargelin and Francis Becenti from U A financial aid the award marks Civitan Chapter's fourth annual scholarship. Baca a elementary education major with a bilingual minor graduated from Ojo Caliente High School in 1965 and lives in Albuquerque with husband Sam and children Jennifer 12 Leonard 9.
