Umpire Tom Nick Nicolete, famed New Mexico official, will address the public umpire meeting at the American Legion Hall on Wednesday April 1 at 7 p.m. The event promotes parent and manager attendance as leagues prep for the April 25 season start.
The University of Albuquerque soccer team sources players from West Mesa, Uganda, and Spain, with about 10 of 18 members international. Volunteer coach David C. De Baca praises the squad as his best, noting five wins and one draw in six games. The team rose from third to second division and eye first division as it beat several top sides. De Baca has coached multiple sports in California and says he loves sports as a lifelong pursuit.

Analyses of the Past, an exhibit recreating prehistoric Indian ruins, will be on display at UNM Maxwell Museum of Anthropology through August 30. Museum hours are Monday through Friday 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. Admission is free. The museum is on University Boulevard N.E., one block north of Grand Avenue.
