Five Thousand Dollar Dwelling Under Construction

A. B. Montross, contractor, builds a $5,000 dwelling for Mr. and Mrs. Robt Thompson near Richwood, Ohio, along the Erie and T. and O. railroads. The sixteen room house will include a furnace, baths, water closets and other modern conveniences, touted as the best in Union County.

Marysville items report fresh house paint on many residences, school enumeration by Mrs. Sellers, counterfeit coins in circulation, re-leveled walk to West Fifth, and a May 29 sale tied to a bid by Philip Rausch. Attorney Milo Myers Wins Milford Center Case

Milo Myers represented Fairbanks Morse in the suit against Dr. B E Baker in Squire Kemmington's Milford Center court. A jury verdict for the plaintiff was reversed after objections by defendant's attorney W S Hoopes, with the room cleared before Myers could speak.

Team of runaway horses maraud through town

A team of horses hitched near the fair grounds broke free Thursday evening, tearing straps and charging through the square toward Plate & Fry’s lumber yard. They turned onto Eighth Street then Ash Street, ending at the Morse residence where a tongue punctured the house. Monroe Martin of Leesburg township owned the team.

Marysville Defeats Kenton 14 to 6 in Opener

Marysville baseball opened the season with a decisive 14 to 6 win over Kenton. A sunny day with a dusty south wind affected catching, as Kenton arrived on the 10:40 train and expected victory but found Marysville strong at the plate and on the field.

City Council Sets Sidewalk Standards and City Projects

At the latest meeting the councilmandated cement or flag stone sidewalks on Fifth street to improve uniformity. The alley behind O M Scott’s hardware may be graveled and graded if local property owners fund it. A vote approved bills, a $1 sprinkling grant for Sixth street, cleaning City Hall, drainage work, and arc light plans for Big Four crossings. Chapman and Cameron will seek railroads to cover $2200 for the lights before May 26 in Indianapolis. prison repairs may follow after inspection.

Richwood Telephone cuts free service to Byhalia

A notice to patrons states that after June 1 1902 the Logan County Telephone Company will charge for all messages from Byhalia to Richwood. The Byhalia exchange formerly offered free service and is now discontinued due to the purchase by Logan County Telecom. Manager M C Wolgamot signs the notice.

Franklin Street Sweep Resolution Issued by City Council

At the May 16 1902 council meeting a resolution required all Franklin street businesses to sweep from sidewalk to street center each Friday morning and haul away dirt by the street commissioner. All business owners on Franklin street must comply. Mayor M. W. Hill signs notice dated May 22 1902.
