Prospect Lady Crowned In Scioto River Tragedy Funeral
Funeral services for Mrs. Mae Knachel 73 of Prospect were held at 2 pm at Ghem Funeral Home. Coroner Dr. Robert Gray ruled death by self inflicted. She was born December 24 1887 in Prospect Township and married William Knachel January 10 1909. She belonged to Prospect Methodist Church W S C S and Prospect Garden Club. Survived by daughter Mrs. Robert Jones and three grandchildren.

New County Home Contracts Awarded By Commissioners
The commissioners awarded contracts last week for a new County Home at Marysville two miles north on Ohio 4 in Paris Township. The $470,000 bond issue, approved last November, finances a one story, three-wing facility with rooms for 77 residents and staff, heating, laundry, kitchen, dining and lounges, plus a chapel in the men’s lounge. Major contracts total $420,507. Knowlton Construction Co. received the general bid at $290,800. Other awarded bids cover electricity, plumbing and heating, and laundry equipment with further kitchen and elevator contracts under consideration.

School Consolidation Defeated in Leesburg Area Special Vote
In a Tuesday special election the Leesburg Magnetic, Washington-York and Northwestern School Districts rejected a proposed three district consolidation with 1014 votes cast.
