Union County Red Cross Chapter Holds Yearly Meeting

The Union County Chapter of the American Red Cross met at the Marysville Methodist Church to review the year starting July 1. Reports detailed 69 veteran assists, blood program progress, a blood mobile in August, and a $5,870.33 fund drive with Union County keeping 3528.08 for local relief.

A family picnic dinner was held Sunday at the home of Mr and Mrs Henry Foos near Richwood to celebrate Mr Foos birthday. Attending were Mr and Mrs Rhea Wasserbeck and children Harold and Carol, Mr and Mrs Clifford Nasserbeck and children Janet and Janice Lee, Mr and Mrs Don ald Foos and daughters, Mr and Mrs Arlis Wasserbeck and sons, Mr and Mrs Loren Mounts and children Karen Stanley and Kathy, and Mr and Mrs James Foos and children Sammy Danny and Joan.

Union County 4 H Members Sell Light Bulbs for Cabin Project

Union County 4 H members 15 years and under raise funds for 4 H Camp Development by selling light bulb packets during July. The program supports 21 new cabins at Camp Clifton Green County with 10 cabins ready July 11 16 and remaining built 1956 1957. Packets include four 60 watt bulbs four 100 watt bulbs and one 150 watt bulb for $2.00 per packet.

The Young Adult Class of Union Baptist Church was entertained at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Robert E. Martin. Seventeen members and families attended. Bible contests were conducted and light refreshments were served.

Chiesa Family Plans Extended Trip From Fort Wayne to Europe

Mr and Mrs Chiesa of Fort Wayne Indiana will depart by plane for New York then Glasgow and Milan on an extended journey. Mrs Chiesa visits her native land after 32 years while Mr Chiesa recalls his return trip in 1923. They own a candy and ice cream business once operated in Richwood and now flourish in Indiana with customers across the state. The couple has three daughters and eight grandchildren with siblings and relatives in Italy Scotland Rhode Island and Michigan.

Local Youngsters Spect Marion Bus Dist Detour

Three Richwood children aged 3 and 4 wandered downtown Marion on a Saturday, missing from their relatives since about 4 p.m. Mrs Ellen Moore reported Ricky, Mark, and their uncle Joseph Sanders as missing. Police later located Ricky and Joseph in a ten cent store and Mark near Main and Center Street watching traffic.

Richwood Village Council Approves Electric Rate Cut

At the regular meeting the council gave final reading to an ordinance lowering electric rates to 95 percent for most resident subscribers effective around August 1. Minimum rate customers are not affected. The council also approved six new street lights for Eastwood Addition and discussed removing several bad trees, with completion expected by fall.
