Wedding Held at Grant Hospital After Change of Plans

Richwood couple Aviation Cadet John W. Drake and Katharine M. Dobbins wed in Room 210 at Grant Hospital after a disrupted ceremony. Drake, stationed at Goodfellow Field, returned on emergency furlough. Rev. Edward Brewster and Peggy Brewster attended as witnesses and maid of honor. Dr. Jerry Newman served as best man. Drake previously attended Capital University and worked for Curtiss-Wright Ohio State Journal.

Miss Ruth Fox daughter of Mr and Mrs Homer Fox of Richwood married S Sgt Arch Law Lindsay son of Mr and Mrs Robt Lindsay of Mendon Ohio in a simple double ring ceremony at 11 o clock Saturday June 23 at the bride’s home Rev Donald Hobbs officiated. The couple planned a short honeymoon to Niagara Falls before S Sgt Lindsay departs for Mobile Alabama after a 30 day leave.

Carolyn Chiesa Receives Proficiency Certificate

Miss Carolyn Chiesa daughter of Mr and Mrs Fred Chiesa earned a Certificate of Proficiency from the National Office Management Association after completing a two year business course at Capital University. She plans to enroll at Ohio State University in the fall to major in Air Transport.

Dedication Service at Richwood First Baptist Church

The First Baptist Church of Richwood will hold a dedication service for officers and teachers on Sunday July 1 1945 announced by Rev Don ald S Hobbs pastor. Sgt Pearl Johnson Receives Purple Heart and Silver Star

Sgt Pearl C Johnson of the U S Army, son of C P Johnson of Richwood, earned the Purple Heart for wounds in Germany on April 14 1945 and the Silver Star for gallantry during April 2 to 14 1945 while leading a platoon in fierce fighting. He entered service March 31 1942. While reconnoitering a critical bridge under heavy fire he continued his mission despite being wounded.

Automobile Collision at Summersville Tuesday

Mrs. Howard Wurtsbaugh and her mother Mrs. Waldo Hostetter suffered bruises and shock after a Summersville Tuesday afternoon crash. The Hostetter party and two young daughters were returning from Huntsville with Hostetter's ill mother. the other car occupants from Columbus escaped injuries. Both cars damaged. Pvt George W Zuspan Arrives on 30 Day Furlough

Pvt. George W. Zuspan son of Mr. and Mrs. I. G. Zuspan arrived in Columbus on a 30 day furlough from the 86 th Black Hawk division, the first full combat group to be returned from the European theatre. He will visit Richwood and relatives before redeployment against Japan after landing in France last February. his image ran in Friday’s Ohio State Journal.

Examination Open for Local Postmaster Vacancy

The United States Civil Service Commission announces an open competitive examination to fill the city postmaster position.
