Grand Opening for New Drive-In Restaurant Friday
The Georgie Porgie Drive-In in Richwood opens with an open house Friday June 27 to showcase its equipment. Built by Noreen Co of Marion for owner George W Keigley the modern site seats 50 in seven pink booths and turquoise decor with a pink white counter. It operates seven days a week 6 am to midnight with curb service 11 am to 11 pm and Sunday dinners. Mrs Kay Eaches manages the business, continuing her prior Kay's Restaurant role.

Claiborne Grange met Monday evening with Zane Randall as W M and fifteen officers present. The session opened with Count Your Blessings and the flag salute. A Kinney family card of thanks was read. Cloyd Mettler and Ralph Peet returned from the hospital. Georgia Cramer announced Alumni banquet proceeds and July 14 Birthday Night with cake or jello. State Highway Foreman Dies Suddenly in Columbus
George Edward Kirby age 62 of 8 School Street Richwood died Sunday June 22 at 4 45 p m in University Hospital Columbus after growing ill while attending races in Hilliards He had been in failing health for five years and served over thirty years as foreman of the state highway road crew He was born July 31 1896 near Richwood son of William Russell Kirby and Elizabeth Romoser Kirby He married Nina Mae Wurtsbaugh April 3 1915 in Marysville Surviving are his widow five sons LaVerne Kirby Leland George Jr Richard Kenneth Kirby and four daughters Katherine Creach Marlene Mounts Betty and Bonnie Kirby 14 grandchildren and one great grandchild Funeral services were held Wednesday at 2:00 p m Ballinger Funeral Home and burial was in Claiborne Cemetery.

Last week Mary Jo Bevis Carol Cochran Ruth Ann Dil saver Ann Perkins and Marilyn Kelley attended the Summer Music Festival at Ohio State University. They joined music theory and appreciation classes and rehearsals for chorus and band. Marilyn and Ann sang in the chorus while Mary Jo and Carol played flute and trumpet in the Grey Band and Ruth Ann played trumpet in the Scarlet Band. Parents and families attended the Sunday concert.

The Bible School at the First Methodist Church held a Friday evening program on June 20 with 159 children and youth enrolled and 124 with perfect attendance. Nursery through Juniors presented songs and skits about creation giving and missions while five Juniors shared time pieces. A staff of 30 supported the DVBS with only minor absences due to illness especially measles.
