Miss Shearns became the bride of Pearl L. Darnell in a ceremony at First Baptist church with family present. The couple plan a ten day motor trip and will reside at the Arthur property on West Bom Street after their home is prepared.
Richwood Independents defeated the Columbus Cubs with a 10 to 6 win on Sunday afternoon in a free hitting game that featured 16 hits for Richwood and 13 for Columbus. Both sides had no errors, and see-saw scoring marked the contest.
Alva Steed of Richwood was arrested Thursday afternoon by Anthony Pfarr and Constable George Singer on a charge of possessing a seine. He pled guilty, was fined 50 dollars plus costs, and committed to the Dayton workhouse until payment.
The American Legion Auxiliary sponsored the play Cor Bagen at Richwood Opera House on June 18 and 19. Directed by Billie Cook of Universal Producing Co. the production drew two full houses and raised 147000 for the Auxiliary, with praise for the chorus and speaking parts.
A pretty wedding occurred Saturday afternoon at the M E parsonage. Miss Mildred Zinikin and Mr Rollin Still pledged their vows in a ring ceremony conducted by Dr W A Deaton. The bride and groom are described as children of local families.
Francis Ross son of Mr and Mrs C L Ross of Plain Avenue was struck by a car near R R Linn’s residence in the western part of town last Thursday afternoon. Driver F E Sampson of Dunkirk swerved onto the curb to avoid the boy. Ross, who was selling bills for H B Dobbs, suffered a bruised hip and leg injury with nervous shock but no serious injuries.
Miss Lucile Reed wed Raymond Bumgarner of Marion in Covington on Wednesday June 25. Both graduates of Richwood High School with she in 1929 and he in 1928. Bumgarner is son of Mr and Mrs Ernest Bumgarner Urbana. They will reside in Marion after July 15 where he is employed.
Claiborne Cooking Club met Thursday afternoon June 19 with thirteen members present. The group voted to have food prepared by hostesses before meetings. The next gathering will be at Mildred Hayes home on July 1. Kathryn Cook of the Healthy Workers Clothing Club near Raymond set an outstanding example by walking five miles to the meeting after cleaning her family home.
J. and Langstaff was named a member of the board of trustees for five years by the county commissioners to comply with a new law. Other members include Mrs Alva Graahm Mrs Walter R Weidman of Marysville Charles Jones Plain City and Casper Scheiderer of Darby township, who retire next year.
Miss Marjorie Dickason and Robert Sanders were wed June 18 at the Baptist parsonage with Rev. Robert W. Peirce officiating. The bride, a Richwood High School graduate of 1928, is a pianist and piano teacher. the groom, a 1930 graduate, works in farming. The couple planned a brief outing at Indian Lake after the ceremony.
William Skimmer Tanner and Harry Tanner were sent to Columbus penitentiary last week to continue two year terms imposed by the Marion county common pleas court after pleading guilty to stealing chickens. They had served part of their sentences in the Marion county jail because Columbus was crowded.
Miss Josephine Sidle returned to her home west of Richwood on Tuesday after a ten months stay in Los Angeles where she attended the University of Southern California. On the way home she spent a week with friends in Kansas City and was a guest of Mr and Mrs L O Alder of Springfield Monday evening.

The Baptist Home and Foreign Missionary Society met last Thursday afternoon at the home of Mrs. J. S. Matteson. Assistant hostesses were Mesdames Warren Temple Aller LeMaters and Good. The vice president led the meeting with devotionals by Rev. Peirce and a program by Mrs. Langstaff.
Howe is in Boston this week on a business visit visiting local offices and meeting with industry executives to discuss potential collaborations and market opportunities.

A birthday dinner Sunday honored Mrs. F M Riley on her 81st anniversary. Attendees included Millard Curry and others from Lima Pharisburg Ostrander Magnetic Springs Fremont Port Clinton Marion and more. Afternoon callers were Mrs. Vella Wood and Mrs. Opal Davies. A fine noon dinner and many presents completed the celebration.
Mr and Mrs E B Hostetter return to Richwood from two weeks with relatives in Lancaster Pennsylvania They are joined by aunts Miss Rachel Kegerreis Hershey PA and Miss Becky Kegerreis Lancaster PA who will visit through Sunday before heading to Bellevue for friends Miss Elizabeth Hostetter Lancaster PA arrived from Milwaukee Saturday to stay Tuesday with her brother and wife
H. B. Dobbs, manager of Richwood’s only moving picture theatre, has installed up-to-date talkie equipment. The first talkie, Sunny Side Up, drew crowded houses on Monday and Tuesday nights. He spared no expense to give Richwood citizens the best in talking pictures and deserves patronage.
Martha Washington Circle entertained at Mrs. Thomas Fletcher's West Ottawa home Tuesday afternoon. Assisted by Dana Kinikin Zuspan Minnie White Addie Neal Mary Fields Lillian Cahill Nora Wood. Readings and quotations followed by a prize contest won by Myrtle Waterman and Edna Cushman. Luncheon served. several guests attended.

The State Department of Education revoked the charter of Pharisburg and Chuckery high schools in Union county. Boards of Education plan to fight the decision in court after teachers were hired for next year. The action follows earlier hints from Director J L Clifton and Superintendent Gale Baldwin amid talks of consolidating nearby Magynetic Springs High.
