Lightning Sets Mills Middleton Farm Ablaze Killing Livestock
Two large barns on the Middleton farm near Summersville were destroyed by a bolt during a fierce storm. Frank Staley and family were away, saving the house but losing hay, grain, wool, and farm equipment along with a dog and several chickens. Neighbors crowded the scene as 200 gathered, with about $4,000 in losses, partly insured.

Boy Saves Companion's Life In Narrow Drowning Rescue
Twelve year old Max Wolgamot saved Edwin Livingston thirteen from drowning at the cut last Wednesday afternoon. Livingston went under twice before Max grabbed his hair and, by treading water, pulled him to shore where he was resuscitated and unharmed.

Woman Injured by Birdshot After Rabbit Hunt
Mrs. Robert Taylor of the Emery White farm two miles west of Richwood was seriously wounded when a shot fired by her husband at a rabbit struck her left shoulder and entered the lung and upper arm. Dr. L. L. Roebuck treated the wounds and predicted a favorable recovery barring complications after the incident occurred near Richwood on Saturday evening.

Civil War Veteran Killed by Street Car in Columbus
Rodham Williams age about sixty nine arrived from Boise City Idaho ten days earlier to visit his brother Jesse Williams of Essex. He was struck by a street car on High street and died at St Francis hospital after being pinned under the car for ten minutes. Williams served as a private in Company C of the 31st Ohio Volunteer Infantry. The funeral was held at the Essex Methodist Protestant church with interment at Price’s Cemetery.

Dr M B Newhouse escaped death Wednesday afternoon when an eastbound Hocking Valley passenger train thundered past as his auto halted on the Bellefontaine avenue crossing. He moved forward just as the locomotive passed, avoiding collision. The near miss was witnessed at the crossing.

College Student Injured in Ames Laboratory Accident
Wiltsie Graham, a student in Ames Iowa, suffered severe burns to both arms and his left eye when an acid test in the agricultural department laboratory exploded. A Chicago examination found the left eye seriously burned but salvageable, while the right eye suffered less damage. His parents, Mr. and Mrs. E. R. Graham, were summoned. Hazen Rays visited friends in Marion and Columbus last week.

Young Woman Badly Injured In Railroad Buggy Crash
Miss James of East Liberty was severely injured when her buggy was struck by a southbound Ohio Central freight train near the St Marys branch tracks.
