The Good Samaritan Circle of the First Methodist Church W S C S held its annual rose tea and guest day on Wednesday June 17 at the church. Led by Mrs Earnest Fish, the program featured a Jeremiah themed devotional, musical solos by Miss Margaret Ann Riley and Mrs A E Shuman, and a trio performance. Council 16 Votes Against Farmers Social Security
Tri County Farm Bureau Council No 16 met at the Pacha home with Mae Fish presiding. Charles Evans spoke on Social Security for Farmers. The council voted unanimously against the farmers Social Security project and sent it to headquarters. Contests were won by Mae Fish and Lawrence Dodrill. Two Year Old in Fatal Truck Accident at Mt Victory
David Lynn Carpenter two year old son of Floyd and Sue Carpenter of Mt Victory died in a San Antonio hospital after a parked truck rolled forward due to air brakes. The Elliott truck, operated by Carpenter, was parked at the residence when the child was struck and killed about 7 p m. Survivors include the parents two brothers and grandparents. Funeral at Ballinger West Mansfield with burial in Green Lawn Cemetery.

Baccarat Lake Draws Large Crowds in Hot Weather
Richwood residents flock to Baccarat Lake with an estimated 700 enjoying relief on Saturday and Sunday. Life guards handled crowds well with no serious accidents. The park offers playgrounds and picnic areas with a small swim entry fee. Richard Clouse began six week swimming lessons for all levels, registration at the lake office or Sieg's Drug Store.

On Thursday afternoon June 11 the Essex W S C S met in the church basement for the first meeting of the year.
