Celebrate Anniversary of Mt. Carmel Order of Eastern Star

Mt. Carmel Chapter No. 42 Order of Eastern Star marked its 22nd anniversary at Masonic Temple. Worthy Matron Blanche Tennant led a night of entertainment with solos, readings, a chorus, and a piano program. Corsages for honored guests highlighted the patriotic decorating. The final meeting until September ended with a victory birthday cake.

The Farm Women's Progressive Club of York met Thursday evening June 18 at Mrs. Charles Smith's home. Bernard Benton Becomes Aviation Cadet in Navy Program

Bernard Lewis Benton of Richwood Ohio and north Clinton street neighbors Mr and Mrs L E Benton was sworn in as an aviator at the Naval Aviation Cadet Selection Board in Columbus Ohio. He will attend a Naval Air Training school for preliminary instruction and be commissioned Ensign after completing the course. Benton recently graduated from Richwood High School in May and has trained at Marion Municipal Airport Flying School.

Uncle Sam Calls Dwight B Garber

Dwight Garber resigns as vocational agricultural teacher at Richwood High School and leaves Thursday for a parental visit. He will be inducted into the army on June 27 at Fort Hayes. He came to Richwood three years ago and became a valued, courteous mentor to students while living with Mrs Bertha Bolenbaugh on North Clinton Street.

Mrs Jesse Roberts and daughter Ruth hosted a miscellaneous bridal shower for Mrs Russell Roberts Thursday evening at the Roberts home. Grange Meeting Plans Noted For Friday Night Program

Columbus Flyer Killed Friend of Miller Family

Second Lt. Wm. H. Payne of the air corps died in a plane accident in Australia on June 9. He was a close friend of Mr. and Mrs. Myron A. Miller of Richwood, often visiting their home as a child. Payne’s mother received word the death was not due to enemy action.

Fire damages spratt blacksmith shop roof

Fire crews were called to the N. W. Spratt blacksmith shop around 11 o clock Tuesday when the roof caught fire. The blaze was quickly extinguished with only slight damage reported.
