Plane Crash Near Pharisburg Kills Baltimore Pilot

A plane owned by the Chesapeake Furniture Company of Baltimore, Maryland crashed and burned on the Elton Myers farm east of Pharisburg around 7:45 a.m. Wednesday. The pilot, Gorden Victor Dewey of Baltimore, Maryland, was instantly killed and the body badly burned. Deputy Sheriff Marion Cameron said no other details were available at press time.

Marine unit sails from North Carolina to Mediterranean

Pfc. Robert L. Everly son of Mrs. Henry Miley of Richwood Ohio sailed May 17 from Morehead City North Carolina en route to the Mediterranean He serves with the 1st Battalion Reinforced 8th Marines 2nd Marine Division at Camp Lejeune and will act as amphibious landing force for the U S 6th Fleet The battalion will conduct training in the Mediterranean and visit liberty ports in Spain Italy and France

Bride Elect Lana Bevis Honored By Family Friends

Mrs Howard Colegrove and daughters hosted a miscel laneous shower for Lana Sue Bevis bride elect of next Saturday. Guests wrote favorite recipes and a scrapbook was formed from This Is Your Life pictures. Lana found gifts under a lavender and white umbrella as Pauline Kale and Bernice Morgan sent gifts. A dainty lunch was served.

Carolyn Smith Injured in Auto Accident

Carolyn Smith a 15 year old of Route 3 Richwood was admitted to Union Co Hospital for injuries from a Route 4 crash north of Marysville. She suffered facial lacerations a cut on the right leg and a possible fractured pelvis. Carol Wentz 21 of near Ostrander the car driver was treated and discharged for a leg cut. The sheriff reports the driver lost control when a wheel sank into the berm and the auto was demolished.

Graduates Complete RETS Course in Columbus

Paul Newman and his son Fred completed fifty weeks at a Radio Electronics Television School in Columbus. In the final exam Paul scored 87 tying for second, Fred scored 85 for third, with an 89 on the 100 question test as the top score. Both received lapel pins and certificates. Paul will begin a twenty five week Industrial Electronics course starting in six weeks on Friday nights.

Funeral in Gallipolis for Mrs Inez Criner

Local residents from Richwood and Marion attended the funeral of Mrs Inez Criner in Gallipolis. The Criner family is noted in Richwood circles through visits to the Alkire home. In Kenton San Antonio Hospital a daughter Penne Elaine Seiter was born June 17 weighing 7 lb 11 3 4 oz to Mr and Mrs Wayne Seiter.
