Central Ohio Hit by Severe Wind Storm

A Monday and Tuesday storm battered central Ohio with tornadic wind, damaging Buckeye Lake cottages, injuring many and causing two lightning deaths. Property losses near Buckeye Lake reached about 150000 dollars while Fairfield Beach escaped damage. Local rains lingered after the event with only moderate winds in the vicinity.

Buck township farmer Vaughn Gibson, 25, holds the crow killing record in Hardin County for 1928 with 475 crow heads recorded by Buck township clerk Carl Newman in the last two weeks. He received a total payment of $118.75 based on his counts.

Lawyer says Smith issued bad checks in city court

Paul Speyer filed an affidavit against Howard Smith in Mayor Brown's court charging Smith with issuing a five dollar check without funds. It is said Smith issued other checks refused by the bank. Arrangements are made for withdrawal upon settlement. Harry Tanner, alleged to have given Speyer a worthless check, is bound over to the grand jury and at liberty on bond.

Richwood merchants plan to distribute purebred dairy cows and heifers free to farmers in the area to boost milk production and farm profits. Recipients become owners with no strings attached and merchants will explain the distribution method.

Henry Ray Shuman 31 died Sunday at his sister Mrs. William Warfel's home north of Upper Sandusky after a decade long tuberculosis illness from World War I service. Born February 20 1897 at Little Sandusky he was a Wyandot County resident. Ledley Seeks Union County Commissioner Nomination

Ed Ledley of Jackson township filed for the Republican nomination for Union county commissioner to seek the office in the upcoming primary. Claiborne Rebekah Lodge elected Noble Grand Selah Chapman and Vice Grand Anna Chapman at a well attended Tuesday meeting. Home Missionary Society and M E church hosted events with multiple hostesses and a miscellaneous program. A Golden Rule Band class shower honored Maurice Warner and bride at the Warner home near Claiborne with about one hundred guests. Various clubs and gatherings followed including Helen's ninth birthday party and a surprise party for Frank Hickok of Magnetic Springs.

4 H Club News and Meetings In Claiborne Township

The 4 H Poultry club met at Martha Johnsons home on June 14 to plan a public demonstration. The next all day fair is set for June 27 at the reservoir. A wiener roast followed. The Jolly Stickers sewing club met at Christine Daviss home June 14 with officers listed and 22 members. A program and refreshments occurred. The Clever Stitchers held June 15 at Mrs Longberry with a sewing demonstration and three new members joined.

Lone Bandit Holds Up Milford Center Bank

A young unmasked bandit robbed the Farmers and Merchants bank at Milford Center on Saturday afternoon about 2 30 pm. Assistant cashier Cuy Coughenour was alone in the bank and described the robber, about 24, as fleeing in a Whippet sedan with roughly $1000 taken. No clues or direction of escape known.

London Falls Under Bingle Bombardment

Richwood overwhelmed London 14 to 3 in a Sunday baseball game. Richwood racked up 19 hits to London’s 9, with seven runs in the first inning and seven more across later frames. Roseberry matched control, allowing three Madison county batters to reach base. McCann took the loss. Isaac Miller Dies at Home in Columbus

Isaac Miller aged 73 and longtime Richwood resident died at his home 222 Avondale avenue Columbus on June 12. He was in the grocery business here before moving to Columbus six years ago. Survived by widow Reggie Miller three daughters Mrs Fuerst and Miss Lillian Miller of Columbus Mrs Harry C Frank of Columbus two sons Manuel E Miller and Arthur Miller of Columbus six grandchildren and brother Joseph Miller of Los Angeles Cal. Burial followed at the new Tifrith Israel cemetery.

Youth group presents five act play The Prodigal Son

The Baptist Young People's Union of First Baptist church will stage The Prodigal Son a five act religious play by Rev. Richard W Jungfer next Sunday at 8 pm replacing the evening service. Married in Kentucky Miss Daniels Weds Fred C Porter

Miss Josephine Daniels and Fred C Porter married in Georgetown Kentucky on Monday June 11. Rev. C A Manley performed the ceremony and the couple departed for a trip to Louisville and Frankfort. Mrs Porter is a Richwood School graduate and former Dr Wurtsbaugh office employee. Porter is a Wood High School graduate who attended Ohio Northern and aided the Porter Surprise Store. They will live with the groom’s parents.
