Rev J W James wed at his residence on South Main Street on Sunday June 18 1998 at 12 30 pm Edward T Winston and Lora L Artz both of Ostrander are announced. F W Latham named assistant principal of Bowling Green High Schools next year resigns from Richwood board. Five dozen neighbors gathered at Guy Dilsaver home southeast of Richwood to mark his 25th birthday. John Scharf near Richwood built a log Turner for portable saw mills to process large logs with few workers.
William K Wall graduates from Ohio State University with a Bachelor of Science in Commerce and Administration on June 11. He is the son of Mr and Mrs Lester E Wall of Richwood and recently completed four years of ROTC training. He now serves in the Field Artillery Division.
Mrs. Mary Corbett and Mrs. Anna Speyer hosted the Martha Washington Circle on June 9 at the Corbett home. Minnie White read the scripture. Joy Haines led readings and a solo. Patty Sanders and Janet Zuspan performed a vocal duet. Betty Jo Webster gave a recitation. Charles Callahan and Nora Corbett joined in readings. A luncheon followed.
Mt. Carmel Chapter 42 Order of the Eastern Star marks its anniversary Tuesday night June 22 with a short program and initiation of two candidates. All members urged to attend.
The Children’s Day Program at the Claiborne Grange meeting features piano solos by Mary K. Griffiths Phyllis Griffith and Doris Randell Recitations by Margaret Ann Miner Billy Randell Reading by Larry Davis Gene Young and Patty Warner a duet by Rose Marie and Max Cowgill and a solo by Sarah Speyer Other numbers to be added.
The Richwood Lions Club, now 117 members, celebrates Charter Night at the High School with banquet, dance, and floor show. Officers and committees for 1943 44 are listed, highlighting the club as the largest small town Lions Club in Ohio and its civic patriotic work.

Union County schools report 1942-43 average daily attendance at 2403.6, down 130 from 1941-42, with high schools hardest hit. Enrollment fell from 2687 in September 1942 to 2552 in May 1943, a 135 pupil drop. State funds lost total 10020 dollars, while 32129 attendance days rose by 9824.

Farmers cutting on installments avoid weather losses, while silage offers preservation when grain can be mixed with grass to improve keeping quality.
Mr. and Mrs. A. L. Graham of Richwood hosted a reception in Marion for Master Sgt. Robert G. Romoser and wife following their June 5 wedding at Seymour Johnson Field Chapel in Goldsboro North Carolina. Chaplin Howard L. Davis officiated. The couple arrived in Marion a day earlier and stayed with his parents.
Twenty six members of Sunshine Circle of The King's Daughters hosted a pot luck supper at Mrs F H Hargers yard to mark the farewell of Mrs D B Nelson who left Richwood this week for a new home in South Charleston. Mrs Keigley assisted as hostess and Mrs Bolenbaugh presented Mrs Nelson with a necklace bearing a King's Daughter emblem.

The W S C S of Central Methodist church met in the church parlors Wednesday afternoon with president Fannie McNeil presiding. Twenty one members answered roll call naming their favorite flower. Edith Matlack led devotions and Anna Jones conducted the study on Culture and Education in Latin America. Minnie White offered the closing prayer.
The Pharisburg school will hold its annual reunion Sunday June 27 at the school house inviting former pupils teachers and friends to bring a basket lunch and enjoy the day together. Clifford O Stout of 106 S Pearl St Richwood has been promoted to sergeant in Headquarters Section 1570th Service Unit at Camp Breckenridge Kentucky.
Son of Mr. and Mrs. L. E. Benton of Richwood has been appointed a Naval Aviation Cadet and transferred to the Naval Air Training Center in Pensacola Florida. He will receive his Navy Wings of Gold on training completion at Annapolis of the Air and be commissioned Ensign in the Naval Reserve or Second Lieutenant in the Marine Corps Reserve.
The Nimble Thimble Ten 4-H Club met June 10 with eight members present and two new members Rebecca Blue and Mary Esther Wasserbeck. A program committee of Blue, Phyllis Marsh and Wasserbeck was appointed. After business a color discussion and pattern pinning by Ruth Fisher and Betty S. were followed by games.
The Grand Army of the Republic will skip its parade at the annual Columbus meeting for the first time in 77 years to support the war effort. Five or six of Ohio’s 25 surviving veterans may attend while many delegates stay for events at the state encampment June 27 to July 2.
Union County Health Commissioner Dr F M Wurtsbaugh is appointed health commissioner of Madison county following the resignation of Dr T R Loughbaum. State Health Department guidance aided the action.
Mr and Mrs R H Allinder announce the marriage of Ina Mae Allinder to Paul Edward Moore. The ceremony took place Saturday at 5 pm at the Central Methodist parsonage with Rev W G Wilcher officiating. Ina Mae is a Richwood High School graduate and Paul works at the Marion Engineering Depot. They will reside on West Ottawa Street. Betty Ballard, Grant Hospital student nurse, is home on a 17 day vacation visiting her parents near Magnetic Springs.
Union County riders tractors are available for farm work, aiding farmers as J. Blaine Harris states. The machines plow and disc hundreds of acres and will remain active. farmers who can lend their tractors should contact Mr Harris at the County Agricultural Agent's office in Marysville Ohio to arrange helpers for corn and soybean planting.
The Nimble Thimble 4 H Club met June 3 in the Essex school house with seven members present. Betty Stallsmith presided as president and the pledge was recited. A Marysville home economics teacher will attend June 17 to demonstrate sewing skills. Betty Stallsmith will fit patterns at the next meeting and the group enjoyed games after turning over to the recreation committee.
The Jolly Stitchers met June 11 at Mrs. R. J. Langstaff home. Mrs. Helser led a patterns talk and Jeanne Fisher, club president, called the meeting to order. Members reported fabric plans for dress making and discussed the 4-H point system in use this year.
The livestock club met at Carl Jacobs home on Thursday night June 10 with twenty members present. New officers include President Junior Bosart Vice president David Kerns secretary Anna Oller recreation leader Phyllis Kerns and reporter Ted Smith. The next meeting is scheduled for June 24 at the David Davis home.
Betsy Ross 4-H Club met at Norabelle and Norma Kavanagh home with eight members and advisor Miss Ehret. They chose E. W. T. for meetings and planned projects for the Marysville fair. Mrs. Helser of Marysville offered color scheming and seam making tips. Refreshments followed with games. Next meeting set for June 3 at Hamilton home with Mrs. Helser present.
