Two Youths Die After Motorcycle Truck Crash West of Milford Center

Two Union County youths Lester D. Patch and Frederick Wayne Kaufman were fatally injured when their motorcycle collided with a truck driven by William Clarence Geiger near Milford Center Saturday around 5 15 PM. Patch died on arrival at Marysville Hospital and Kaufman died at University Hospital Columbus Sunday morning. The truck driver was cited for driving on the left side of the road as he tried to pass a car and did not see the cycle until alongside it. Patch, son of Leonard and Bessie Patch, was 21 and a 1960 Union Local High School graduate. Kaufman was 18 and worked at Kaufman’s Meat Market. Funeral services for Patch were held in Richwood.

Garden Club Flower Show Great Success

The Richwood Garden Club Flower Show at the American Legion Hall drew 222 entries across specimens and arrangements. Guests from Prospect LaRue Byhalia and Marysville contributed twenty one entries, with judge Mrs Ivan Williams from Urbana. A plant sale boosted the treasury and a Monday tea for thirteen members was hosted by Byhalia Progressive Club.

Aged Prospect Resident Watt Kyle Dies at 82

Funeral services for Watt W. Kyle aged 82 of Prospect were held at 2 p m in the Powell Funeral Home Prospect with Rev G F Peters of Prospect Methodist Church officiating. Burial followed in Prospect cemetery. Kyle died at 10 15 p m Wednesday after a 13 month illness. He was born August 10 1877 in Delaware County to Albert and Betsy Kyle. He married Lida Money June 1 1905 who died April 15 1957. He was a retired barber. Surviving are a son Lawrence E Columbus a daughter Mrs Pauline Zoller at home four grandchildren and four sisters Mrs Albert Miller Mrs John Davis Mrs Charles Evans and Mrs Jesse Roberts all of near Richwood.

Funeral services for Columbus oldest automobile dealer F. Bert Daniels 78 of 920 Kelton Ave were held Friday at Richwood First Methodist Church with Rev. Paul Kaefer officiating.
