The weekend storms lifted rivers and creeks over low lands across Ohio causing damage to corn fields and properties. The New O Shaughnessy dam near White Sulphur saw water flow over for the first time, washing away fences and threatening homes. Dam contractors report losses near $50,000 and work at the dam will resume in weeks.
Chautauqua will be held in Richwood July 10 to 14 with a Redpath bureau program, noted for balance and quality. H F Bergener, advance man, will be in Richwood Monday June 16. A meeting of guarantors is planned for Weld Monday evening at the Commercial club rooms.
Friends and relatives from Findlay Columbus Prospect Cleveland Akron and nearby towns attended the funeral service for Philip Scott on Monday. Attendees included James D Van Sant Clarence Van Sant Josephine Emory Van Sant Wilber Harris J H Hawes Golda Siffrett Roy Harris Ray Waring Ralph Meddles Robert Aldrich Alvin Courtney Rev. Miss June Bumgartner and Mr. Carl Hock were married at the bride’s parents’ home Sunday at eight. Rev. Marion Flint performed the ring ceremony. Attendants were Miss Viola Keller and Emund Hock. The annual poultry meeting at the Agricultural Experiment Station Wooster will be held Thursday June 26 the day before the Wheatfield meeting. Nanogenarian Mrs. Sarah Catherine Cowger Sager died Friday at 10 40 p m at her Bowling Green Township home four miles south of LaRue after pneumonia and age infirmities She was born April 2 1834 in Seibert West Virginia and moved to the Trumbo settlement near Agosta with relatives at twenty two Her husband Benjamin F Sager died earlier She leaves a daughter Mrs John Zieg five sons W A Sager A F Sager H W Sager E T Sager a deceased son James D Sager twenty three grandchildren and two great grandchildren The funeral was held Sunday at 2 pm at the home with burial in Price cemetery.
William and Wilbur Pierce, Ray Diehl and Sylvia Wallace entertained the Goden Rule Band last Tuesday at the Doebert home. A July first meeting is planned at Blanche Norris’s home after a business gathering. Mrs. Don Tracy hosted a birthday party for her daughter Mary Catherine with a pink and white theme and gifts for the child. The Presbyterian Home and Foreign Missionary society met at Mrs. C. B. Snowden’s home with Mrs. Will Shipley assisting, followed by lunch. Birthday dinner for Anna James attended by family and neighbors. The M P church Home Missionary society met at the church parlors with plans to host Mrs. Emma Sheppard for a talk soon. Olive Marie Dilsaver celebrated her eleventh birthday with a girls party featuring games and refreshments.
Mary Esther Street entertained twenty girl friends at her home Friday afternoon in honor of her twelfth birthday. Music and games were enjoyed and lunch was served.
Sunday school begins at 9 30 with Harold Haughn as superintendent. Morning worship follows at 10 30. All members are urged to attend. On Monday evening June 16 Rev J C Figart of Sylvania Pa will preach.

Philip Sheridan Scott aged 58 died at his Richwood home Saturday at 9 AM after a long heart illness. Born August 4, 1864, he was the son of Abraham and Nancy Scott and survived by his widow Louie Van Sant and brothers John and Frank, both of Richwood. Funeral services were held Monday at 2 PM at the house with Rev. C. L. Gowdy presiding. Lloyd Winter oversaw burial at Claiborne Cemetery.

Funeral services were held for Adam E. Schaffer aged fifty eight who died last Tuesday in St. Louis. He was a journalist with the Wapakoneta Daily News and a widely known figure in newspaper politics county fairs and horse racing circles. He served as secretary of the Ohio Fair Boys association Auglaize county fair and exalted ruler of the Wapakoneta Elks. He retired as postmaster at Wapakoneta last September.
