Allgower Retires After Forty Two Years With Sohio
Edgar W. Allgower, long time Sohio employee and former Richwood resident now living in Fairview Park Ohio, retires July 1 after forty two years with the company. He started as a Lima clerk in 1917, rose to treasurer in 1947, and during his tenure oversaw vast funds and investments while his family includes daughter Margaret Ann Baciak.

Kerns Mare Dead Heats In Derby Co Trophy Race
Daisy Malone owned by Lloyd and Joy Kerns of Richwood finished in a dead heat for the win at Hillards Raceway in the Derby Co Trophy stake. Mr Simpson won the first heat and tied in the photo finish with Daisy in the second heat. The event covered a mile and one sixteenths while the Kerns mare clocked 2:15 with a 2:07 mile. George Battles of Richwood has trained and driven the mare for two years. Daisy Malone earlier set a Croton Ohio track trotting record with a 2:06h mark after her nine-win season last year.

Richwood Village Council met in the Mayor's Office to hear a notice from Ohio Edison that in about six months a higher rate would be requested for commercial and residential lighting. The Health Department reported water and sewage systems in good condition. The council appropriated street funds to cover lighting costs for six months.

45 Lb Carp Caught Near LaRue On Saturday
Bob Robertson of Richwood landed a 45 lb carp while fishing with Soft Craws at the Scioto River rear of the LaRue elevator. The fight lasted nearly an hour on 10 lb test line. He also caught a 15 lb carp.

Farm-Orama Fire Demonstration Adds Practical Lesson
A fire fighting demonstration will be held on September 9 and 10 at Farm-Orama.
