Church Ceremony Unites Well Known Couple May 24

On Sunday May 24 at Richwood Union Baptist Church Miss Cora Jane Layne married Edwin Gulliford. Readings by Rev Wallis Ellis followed nuptial music by Mrs Wallis Ellis and Rev Sammy Woods. Attendants included Mrs John Mohr and Miss Alice Ehret, with a reception at the bride’s parents’ home. The couple plans a South wedding trip and will reside with the groom’s parents.

The Hopevale Mission Circle of the First Baptist Church met Tuesday evening in the church parlor with Mrs. Ernest DeBolt presiding in the absence of the president Mrs Giles McDaniel The new officers were installed by Rev Turner Thelma Minke became president Fourteen members attended and the treasurer Mrs Guy Newhouse gave the report A bake sale is scheduled for June 20 at Burnside's Store with food due by 9 00 am The Love Gift service was led by Mrs DeBolt who chose Gods Soil as her theme.Refreshments followed the meeting.

Annie Richards Group Discusses Youth Camps and Refugees

The Annie Richards Mission Circle met in Baptist Church parlors to discuss Youth Camps at Granville Tar Hollow and Camp Owens and to vote a donation. They mentioned the Overseas Family adoption and planned a July food box.

June meeting of Finetta Class held at Central Methodist

The Finetta Class gathered last Thursday evening at the Central Methodist Church with President Alta Marvin presiding. The program included singing Love Divine and The Way of the Cross Leads Home, a scripture reading and prayer, readings by Della Phelps and Ada Fawley, a contest won by Myrtle Burgoon, a vocal by Cora Wood, and refreshments served by Cora Wood, Millie Murray, and Myrtle Burgoon.

Richwood T. N. T. Club Meets at Porter Home

The Richwood T. N. T. 4-H Club held its third meeting on June 3 at Ann Porter’s home. President Joyce Swartz led the session with demonstrations by Christine Fetter, Sandra Blue and Sharon Howison. Ann Perkins led games and Rosalie Bumgarner and Pat Tanner served refreshments. The next gathering is planned for Linda Boyd’s home on June 17.

Tucker P Smith Jr of Columbus moved to Richwood and now works with Bert Ballinger Funeral Home in Richwood. A 1947 Richwood High graduate, he served in the U S Air Force and studied science at the U S A in 12 quarters. He plans to study Mortuary Science and become licensed.

King's Daughters Circle Holds Picnic at Graham Lane

Sunshine Circle of The King's Daughters gathered Monday evening at Mrs. Laurentine Shoup's Graham Lane home. Seventeen members and two guests enjoyed a inside meal due to rain. A short business session followed and officers were installed by Mrs. Esta Sanders with Millicent Howe chosen as leader and committees appointed.

The Church League Softball opened its season at Richwood Memorial Field with games on Monday and Thursday evenings. If postponed by weather, games move to Friday. no admission is charged and games start at 7 and 9 o clock.

County Churches Observe Sesquicentennial Sunday

Richwood Fair Queen Candidates Featured on WLWC Telecasts

Richwood fair queen hopefuls will appear on Sally Flowers TV programs on June 17 and 25.
