Last Monday evening at Miss Leah Cox's home on south Franklin street an announcement party was held for a mock wedding to occur June 19 at the bride Ruth Hewitt's home with Miss Hazel White. Hostesses Miss Starling White and Miss Cox served refreshments after a music filled evening with a flower contest and hidden announcement cards traced by strings. Children’s Day Exercises at Church of Christ Highlight Program
Last Sunday evening the Church of Christ held Children’s Day exercises with strong attendance. Ralph McFarland gave the welcome, children performed drills and dialogues, solos were sung by Lucile Biddle Hazel Blue and Margaret Alana Hill, and several recitations were presented. The Sunday school sang several songs and the scene of a missionary station impressed the audience. The church was adorned with flowers and both children and adults contributed to a successful program.

Poison tale turned out a hoax in mid story
Marysville reports a Columbus hospital recovery for Carl Thorpe after he claimed to have taken 75 grains of bichloride of mercury. Doctors found no poison in his system and the admission revealed the boast was a ploy to frighten his father for failing him on exams at the state medical school.

Mail carrier narrowly escaped serious injury in runaway
J Fred Rapp, Rural Route 1 mail carrier, was thrown from a wagon when a shaft broke near the White farm in Jackson township. The horse bolted but stopped after a short run. Rapp, shaken but unharmed, returned to Richwood after temporary repairs as Harry White finished deliveries.
