162 Enrolled In Area Bible School
The 1966 Daily Vacation Bible School in the Magnetic Springs Pharisburg area opened at Leesburg Magnetic School with 162 participants including children and leaders. 120 are enrolled across five departments with 36 staff. Patricia W. Houk of Route 2 Buckeye Local Rushsylvania joins 27 other biology teachers from 18 states in a seven week Summer Institute in Botany at Lawrence University Appleton Wisconsin from June 20 to August 6. The NSF funds of 38110 support the program directed by Dr Bradner W Coursen associate professor of biology at Lawrence. The aim is to deepen teachers familiarity with major botany fields to enhance classroom material and methods.

Lightning Fire Destroys Barn on George Weaver Farm
A severe Monday storm struck Pharisburg area with strong winds and lightning that caused a barn on the George Weaver farm near Pharisburg to burn to the ground. Fire departments from Raymond and Magnetic Springs could not stop the fast blaze, and livestock losses were not yet determined.

Mothers Honored At Claiborne Grange
Claiborne Grange 2679 met Monday night May 23 at 8 p m in the Grange Hall Master Ora Payne opened the meeting and opening song Columbia the Gem of the Ocean. Pilot project funds home economics program in Union County
The Tri-County community action group received funding for the Home Economics Pilot Project to run a mobile home economics lab for low income families in Union County.
