Prosecutor Kerns Guest Speaker at Grange Meet

Claiborne Grange No 2679 held an open meeting as Master Fred Webster was ill Zane Randall filled the chair. Attorney Lloyd Kerns spoke on Social Security and its effect on farmers with a lively discussion. Grange sewing results announced Christine Clark and Bertha Matlack won first and second place. Phyllis Clark took youth class with a duster. Memorial services were led by Fay Bell and a shower for the Harold McElroy family was announced.

4-H Club Met At Carolyn Evans Home

The Richwood T N T 4 H club held its fifth meeting at Carolyn Evans home on June 1 with Ann Perkins presiding. Members gave progress reports, Connie Roberts demonstrated hemming a towel, Ann Perkins showed sewing seams, and Janet Connolly led games. Refreshments were served by the Evans sisters and Kay McDaniel. The next meeting is set for June 15.

Mrs Francis Middleton Hosts Live Wire Circle Meeting

Mrs Francis Middleton entertained the Live Wire Circle of Central Methodist Church at her West Ottawa Street home on a Friday in June. The group sang What A Friend We Have in Jesus and heard scripture read by Myrtle Burgoon with prayer by Ward Evans, closing with Mizpah benediction and refreshments. The next meeting will be at Nye Hamilton’s home. Four members returned from a week at Monson's Camp in Minnesota reporting good fishing and fine weather.

Youth for Christ Holds Second Rally in Richwood

The Richwood Youth for Christ presents its second rally this Saturday June 11 at 8:00 p m in the Richwood High School auditorium with music by Lorne Minke Dick McMahon and others and Harold Hill of Worthington high as speaker. Doors open at 7:00 p m and the public is invited. A later rally on June 30 will be a Drive In showing Billy Graham film Souls in Conflict south of the high school.

Essex Boy Scouts Attend Rad-O-Wood Camporee

Essex troop participated in a Camp Rad-O-Wood event near Marysville for a weekend. They competed in map drawing, compass reading, and fishing, placing second in fishing, and held an outdoor chapel dedication with candlelight service. The group also attended church, a flag pole retreat, and awarded recognitions. Shirk Couple Celebrates Golden Wedding in Columbus

Mr and Mrs M E Shirk of Magnetic Springs marked their golden wedding anniversary with a Friday dinner at Shangri La in Columbus. Their son Paul and Miss Maxine Rowe joined them. The couple wed June 3 1905 at Magnetic Springs Christian Union Church with Rev J B Hogans officiating. Mrs Shirk was formerly Midge Hite. They have spent most of their married life in Magnetic Springs and Mr Shirk later worked as a stationary engineer before turning to farming.

Metropolitan Life official visits Columbus for outreach

Richard E. Turner of Metropolitan Life attended a Columbus conference with company president Frederic W. Ecker and senior officers. The visit is part of a tour to meet the 22,000 U S and Canada field reps. Met Life reports 3.68 billion dollars in Ohio insured, 2.175 million residents covered, and last year payouts and new policies totaling 67.974 million and 216.52 million respectively.

Columbus Company Formed For Naval Training At Great Lakes

A Columbus area recruit unit will enlist in June to join the Columbus Company for nine weeks of basic training at Great Lakes. Led by Lt. Com. D. W. Routlson, the company will graduate together and return home on boot leave. The unit draws from a 35 mile radius around Columbus Ohio and aims to offset civilian military exits during Korea. The company will include ages 17 to 31 with 17 year olds eligible for discharge before 21.

The Marysville Garden Club hosts the annual Spring Flower and Ceramic Show on Saturday and Sunday June 11-12 in the Marysville Senior High School recreation room. Officers include Dr. R. A. The Anna Richards Circle of the Women's Missionary Society met June 2 at the home of Mrs. Giles McDaniel on Tawa Road. Co hosts were Mrs. J. S. Matteson and Mrs. Albert Howard. Mrs. R. J. Daily Vacation Bible School at Union Baptist
