Richwood-North Union Alumni Banquet Draws 225 Attendees
The Richwood-North Union Alumni Banquet attracted about 225 at North Union High School. Omni President Tom Shields led the event with remarks as social hour and dinner followed in the gym. Speakers honored the 50 year class and notable alumni, with entertainment from Benjamin Logan High School and dance to Lowell Noland. Alumni officers for 1978 were announced.

North Union High School hosts Springenfest on Saturday with food stalls, bratwurst, German dishes, and games for all ages. Thursday evening features a sky drop of flyers and a major auction in the Avenue of Shoppes to raise funds for district athletics.

Legion Auxiliary Called Session June 8 and 6th District Conventions
Special called meeting of the American Legion Auxiliary is announced for June 8 at 8 p m with important items on the agenda. The 6th District Summer Convention is Sunday June 5 at Licking Valley High School Hanover with registration at 9 a m Delegates and alternates for Unit 40 include Gladys Beckley Edith Cope Zita Griffith Martha Moore Helen Collier and Fannie McNeal. The 6th District Legion Posts will meet at the same site for their Summer Convention. Todd Gibson failed to qualify for the Indy 500 this year and caused on the spot coverage plans to be canceled after engine trouble in qualifying.

Child Injured At Franklin Ottawa Intersection
Six year old Scott Markham, a Claibourne Richwood Kindergarten student, remains in fair condition at Community MedCenter Marion after running from between parked cars onto S Franklin Street into a southbound pickup truck. Driver Henry J. Gilliam could not avoid the collision and the boy was treated for a head injury and a fractured right leg. The Richwood Emergency Squad transported him for observation. a circulation issue in his foot reportedly improved by Monday morning.

Gov James A Rhodes announces a 7547 grant to Union County for a juvenile officer in the sheriff is department to investigate prosecute transport juveniles and coordinate delinquency prevention with schools churches and civic groups. The grant is locally supplemented by 1494 under Ohio s 1977 Comprehensive Criminal Justice Plan 19.6 million funded by federal approval.

Accidental Dunking Dares Memories at Richwood Lake
