Excitement on North Franklin Street After Runaway Horse Incident
On May 29 1913 a runaway horse driven by F E Morier smashed along North Franklin Street injuring the driver who escaped death and was expected to recover. Nearby Rev W W Marsh former pastor of Prospect Methodist died suddenly in Chicago. Sterling S Cheney was seriously injured when his horse backed off a culvert near Woodstock. A series of births and illnesses follow including typhoid cases in Urbana and new babies born to local families.

Mrs. Clow formerly of Mansfield and mother of Mrs. Earl Cochran died Tuesday night at her daughter's residence on the Shisler farm southwest of Richwood after two years of illness. Funeral services will be held Friday afternoon at one o'clock at the Cochran home.

A neighbor found 68 year old Mrs Alla Jones dead at her Magnetic Springs home Tuesday evening. Death attributed to angina pectoris. She was born January 1870 in Cincinnati and survived by nephew Dr Jesse Conrad. Funeral set for Friday at Magnetic Springs M E church with burial in Bethlehem cemetery.

A large attendance filled the Masonic temple for the Alumni banquet last Friday with many out of town guests. The program, led by president Owen Livingston, featured reunions, lectures on topics from dentistry to local churches, a twenty five year look back, and performances by a school choir and soloists. Post banquet, Giles McDaniel was elected president with Dave Cushman vice president and Mrs Richard Langstaff secretary treasurer.
