Major Doellinger Here Saturday

Major Doellinger of the Third Battalion Fourth Infantry Regiment O N G was in Richwood Saturday night to preside at a meeting about recruiting a headquarters company. A power outage prevented the gathering. The enlisted strength includes sergeant major, first sergeant, observers, electricians, guards, messengers, and other specialized roles. Enlistments have been encouraging to organizers.

Champaign County Opens Pheasant Farm Production

The state fish and game department starts a pheasant farm at Murray Hill in Champaign County led by John Umberhauer. It aims to produce 3,000 pheasants for release to boost local sport, with a 1,000 egg incubator now in operation and first hatch expected mid late month. A Clark County project plans about 9,000 birds yearly for distribution within that county.

Two Cars Crush Man to Death in Columbus

Benjamin Daugherty a former Marysville resident and baggage master for the Pennsylvania Railroad at Columbus Union Depot was killed Friday when caught between two cars on the Pennsylvania Road.
