Dorothy Esta Jones seven months old daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Lewis Jones northwest of Richwood died Christmas morning from broncho pneumonia following whooping cough. Born May 4, 1920 she leaves three sisters and five brothers. Funeral held Tuesday at 1:30 p.m. Rev. H. C. Gillespie officiating. Burial in Claiborne cemetery with S. R. Sanders as undertaker.

Tax reappraisement order suspended by state commission
The Ohio State Tax Commission suspended its order for real estate reappraisement in 68 counties until February 1. Public hearings were set for the week of January 17. Governor Cox prompted the move amid protests from the Ohio State Grange and the Ohio Farm Bureau Federation. Commissioner Peckinpaugh opposed. Jackson County previously listed for reappraisement. The county officials face pay cuts following a census decline. Salaries drop from 1895 to 1845 for auditor, treasurer, and probate judge. clerk from 1635 to 1585. commissioners, prosecutor and recorder from 1200 to 1150. surveyor from 2200 to 2100. sheriff from 1300 to 1250.
