Beem Family Man Dies of Heart Attack at Home

Benjamin F Beem, born October 31 1960 in Richwood, died of a heart attack on a Friday afternoon near the Gazette office. Survived by widow Laura I Walker and children Mrs W H Conboy Mrs George Lippincott and L G Beem Akron. daughter Ivaloo preceded him in death. Funeral held at Beem home with Rev McKinnon and Rev Combrink. burial in Claiborne mausoleum.

Eighty Fourth Birthday Celebrated on Friday

Mrs. Sarah Fisher celebrated her 84th birthday Friday at her West Ottawa street home. Dinner was served to her sister and brothers and to her children. An 84 candle cake highlighted the event.

The Just Us Girls club met at Mary Spain’s home on December 21 for a Christmas exchange and games led by Esther Blackburn. Members voted to suspend rules for the New Year’s party at Pauline Armstrong’s home December 31 and to invite their boyfriends.

Class Reunion at the Wurtsbaugh Home

Members of the Richwood High School Class of 1923 held a Monday night reunion at the home of Dr and Mrs F M Wurtsbaugh. Sixteen guests attended with out of town visitors from Marion and Columbus. The evening featured contests and a luncheon.

Baptist Christmas Pageant At Local Church

The Christmas pageant And His Name Shall Be Called Wonderful was staged at the Baptist church Thursday night to an appreciative audience. Illness kept some actors away, but substitutes carried the parts well under the direction of Mrs. Charles Eddy Mrs. Claude Swartz and Mrs. Ruth Weller. Charles Eddy supervised the lighting which enhanced the production.

Twenty Christmas Baskets Sent by Baptist Church

The Baptist church distributed twenty Christmas baskets on Friday. Supplies from the high school entertainment and donations from Sunday school classes funded the effort. Schools contributed their gifts to the church committee, showing cooperation in the charitable act.

Three Cameron family deaths from Marysville area in December

Mrs. Elnora Cameron aged 79 died December 22 after a brief illness of pneumonia and complications. Frank Cameron aged 85, died December 25 from the flu. Their daughter Mrs. Josephine Dolbear died last week from flu and paralysis. Surviving relatives include two sons Merrill and Virgil in Columbus and daughter Grace Foster in New Providence Iowa. Funeral services were held for Mrs. Cameron December 28 at Marysville and for Mr. Cameron December 31 at L. H. Miller funeral parlors. Interment followed in Price cemetery near Essex.

LaRue Opera House Damaged by Fire

A fire likely from wiring under the floor damaged the LaRue Opera House and nearby buildings, causing about 10 000 dollars in loss. Fire crews from LaRue Marion Kenton and Green Camp fought the blaze for seven hours, entering the K of P building to reach the fire source. The opera house and lodge rooms were badly damaged, with Stahl Bailey’s hardware store among the heaviest losses.

Kenton Woman Held In Local Robbery

Flora Slusher 18 and Ruth Crist 35 of Kenton are in Union county jail on charges tied to a Richwood Banking Co robbery. Crist faces bank robbery charges with a $10,000 bond after Slusher testified against her. The case links Crist to driving the getaway car and smuggling tools to two suspects later jailed in Michigan.

U S Department of Agriculture nutritionist Dr Hazel Stiebeling classifies fresh fruits and vegetables into four iron content groups. Beets cabbage green lettuce and potatoes are good sources while spinach beet tops chard mustard dandelion and turnip greens are excellent. Increased consumption of these foods raises iron intake and adds other minerals and vitamins.

Livestock Trucking Rates Fall Across Ohio Area

Rates for trucking hogs cattle calves and sheep to markets in four Ohio communities near Cincinnati dropped sharply in 1932. Hog and cattle rates fell from 25 to 15 cents per hundredweight while overall 1929–31 bases show 36 38 26 and 51 percent declines for hogs cattle calves and sheep respectively.
