Mr and Mrs Harold Thomas of Polk Ohio announce the birth of a nine pound daughter December 7 at Samaritan hospital Ashland. The baby is named Sandra Sue. Mrs Thomas before marriage was Miss Madelyn Collins of Richwood Ohio, daughter of Mr and Mrs Harry Collins.

Martha Elliott eleven year old daughter of County Commissioner A F Elliott of Marysville died Monday at Mt Carmel Hospital Columbus after a week’s confinement. Survived by four sisters and a brother. Funeral services were held in Marysville Tuesday. courthouse offices closed for the funeral.

Richwood Farmers Institute Plans Two Day 1936 Meet

The Richwood Farmers Institute officers completed general plans for a two day 1936 institute to be held January 6 and 7. James Harmon moved to Marysville creating a vacancy. Perry Allen presided. R F Bell elected presiding chairman. David Neal leads music. Sturgis Cheney handles hall arrangements. A corn show with prizes for 1935 exhibits will be directed by Temple Roberts and White. A poster contest led by Vestal will award prizes for high school and grade pupil classes.

Christmas Programs At First Baptist Shine With Spirit

The First Baptist Sunday school children presented a well attended Christmas program. The Sunday evening choir directed by Mrs. H. C. LeMasters performed a Christmas music program featuring an organ prelude and multiple solos duets quartets and choruses. A pantomime and offertory highlighted the service with festive selections ending in benediction.

A Christmas program directed by Mrs. Sturgis Cheney Mrs. Dodrill and Mrs. Lewis Lake at the First M. E. The Daughters of Union Veterans Sewing Circle met at the homes of Mrs. Margaret Blake and Mrs. Wilda Evans. Officers elected were President Rosella Babbs Secretary Estella Sloop and Treasurer Florence Davis. Christmas boxes were prepared for the comrades.

Death summons Martha Smith in Marion funeral held

Martha Smith 86 widow of A G Smith died Friday December 20 at daughter Mrs A W Lowe home south of Agosta from pneumonia. Born June 9 1849 near Ostrander she married September 18 1873 and belonged to United Brethren church of Marion. Survived by daughters Mrs William Fleming Mrs William Saiter Mrs Evan Griffith and Mrs A W Lowe. Funeral at Lowe home Monday at 2 pm conducted by Rev Carl V Roop with burial in Marion cemetery.

Sunday school classes at the Methodist Protestant church presented a Christmas program with recitations pantomimes and music. The Presbyterian church followed with a children’s program and a social hour with refreshments for Sunday school and church members.

Odd Fellows Meet and January Diploma Event

The I O O F lodge held a regular session with Fred Sloop as Noble Grand. Next Friday a noon lunch will be served and all Odd Fellows are urged to attend. On January 3 the annual celebration takes place in the lodge hall with George Neffner to award a diploma for the year’s efforts. An open meeting with a good program and supper is planned.

Werner Wins Richwood Home Decor Contest Again

H C Werner of North Franklin street and Beatty avenue took first prize in the Richwood merchants home decorating contest judged Monday by two Marysville Floral Co members and Kenneth Davis. Prizes: first $10 to Werner, second $5 to S R Sanders, third $3 to John Livingston, fourth $2 to Mrs Laura Wolfe. Fewer homes were decorated this year due to advertising time.

Grade school pupils under Miss Margaret LeMasters presented two operettas at the Union theater last Wednesday evening to a large audience. Performances were creditable and entertaining, showcasing the pupils and the music teacher's training.
