Union County Hospital Association Holds Annual Meeting
The Union County Hospital Association held its annual meeting at Memorial Hospital on December 1 with Vice President Clarence Hoopes presiding in place of ill President Col. Morey. Treasurer C B Mills reported a net asset of 37892.39 including the Rosa L Cross endowment valued at 26849.69, with total funds expected to reach just over 30000 after an announced addition. The hospital project cost was 619208.21 funded by county taxes 135164 Federal aid 195500 and donations 279544.21. Outstanding pledges were 20161.37, with most likely to be paid. Four trustees were elected for three years, and four retiring trustees were reappointed. The Women’s Board annual appointments for 1953 were announced, with plans for upcoming activities set for January 16.

The Service Mothers' Club of Magnetic Springs met December 16 at Eva Miller's home with Clarabelle Eastgate assisting. A pot-luck supper followed by gifts, games, and a door prize to Margaret Maugans. Several pounds of candies and cookies were packed for delivery to Chillicothe Veterans Hospital by Mr. and Mrs. William Maugans. Next meeting January at Ollie Betivas home with Zula Ogle assisting.

Church Leadership School Set For January and February
Marysville area to host a six week Church Leadership School starting January 12 in the First Methodist Church Maryville. Dr Edward Schramm will teach Bible studies with sessions each Monday night from 7 30 to 8 30. Final session February 16 features Dr Henry Hoesman on Evangelism followed by small group discussions led by local pastors and teachers. Credits offered by the International Council of Religious Education. cost $1 per person or $15 flat per church. Last year 160 plus attended from 25 churches.

Richwood Public Library Board funding created a school division in each library room in elementary, middle, and high schools. The plan includes book replacements, circulation reporting, and a $600 purchase cap for 206 elementary, 69 middle, and 81 high school books. Villa Hotel Fire in Richwood Roars. Anna Allgower Dies
A morning blaze on the third floor of the Villa Hotel in Richwood, begun in Room 16 by transient A R Bishop, led to the death of owner Anna Allgower after a heart attack at about 6 30. The volunteer fire department confined the fire to the third floor, but the building suffered water damage and the hotel remains closed pending repairs. Assistant State Fire Marshal Thomas Finch ruled the fire accidental.
