J G Gould vice president of the Leland Smith Tobacco Co after its failure was found dead Monday in a ditch in East Toledo. A revolver lay in his right hand and a bullet hole in his right temple indicates suicide. No valuables were missing. Gould had been missing a close detail.

Murder Suspect Body Found on Lumber Pile

The body of an unknown man was found Monday afternoon on a town lumber pile. Two bullet holes to the head and a crushed skull suggest murder. Two Wabash railroad checks made out to J. T. Pentland of Ashley Michigan were found on the victim. The coroner labels the death a likely murder.

Charles Childs a retired Cleveland merchant and Mexican War veteran died Tuesday morning at his Wade Park Avenue home from an overdose of morphine. He had rheumatism and investigators suspect a personal crisis prompted the dosing incident.

Edward Mines Released on Morocco County Larceny Sentence

Edward Mines, serving four years for grand larceny in Montgomery County, had his sentence commuted to release him. He must leave the state and was received in May 1895. A short card man, he promised to depart. In Middletown, Ohio, Gertrude Butterfield aged five died in her mother's arms. authorities suspect the child strangled while the mother slept.

James Preston a 36 year old laborer shot his wife Amanda 87 and stepson William Bryant 17 then killed himself at 437 East Pearl street after threatening to kill his wife. Bryant tried to intervene with a hatchet. All three wounds were fatal or likely fatal.

Poison in Buckwheat Cakes in St Louis Traced to Flour

Mrs F M Roberts and three children at 1403 Papin Street were poisoned by buckwheat cakes containing corrosive sublimate. Roberts, her 18 year old son, and daughter Lizzie about six are in critical condition. Flour used for the cakes was later found in the back yard.
